International recording artist Ward Stroud feels extremely blessed to be a part of the "Indian Flute" Music community. Ward's flutes, and his music have reached out the world over and for this is he also very, very, grateful...
Ward learned how to make flutes by taking Tobacco (this is how one
asks properly) to a respected flute maker, and asking to learn the
Ancient Wisdom, Ward's flutes are some of the most beautiful Native American Style Flutes found today, and
they are always made in "the good way" ... Ward is also an accomplished
"Shakuhachi" (Japanese Flute) Player and has studied traditional
Japanese music and form for many years... His newest recording INDIGINARY combines the Shakuhachi and
instruments for all over the world and was submitted for a Grammy
nomination in 2002!
Walking the path of a Flute Player has lead Ward to working with other musician's and he now has a band that mixes modern instruments and the Flutes he so dearly cherishes... His band is called "The Ward Stroud Band" and you can look and listen to their music at www.wardstroudband.com
Ward lived most his life with his Father and his GrandMother "Grams" (born on the "Cherokee" reservartion in Oklahoma) who taught him his greatest lessons and values... Ward's experience in music comes from his early childhood memories of making music with his mother, a full blooded Yaqui Indian Woman (Yaqui people originate from Northern Mexico). The flute is an extension of his spirit voice, from that special place where his heart speaks. He enjoys performing live and recording. Ward believes that music is very important, and that it has a healing quality that is very special. He also believes it nourishes both the mind and spirit, bringing beauty to the world. As Ward says- "Music is the kind of magic that all people can believe in. Sharing this music with others is a great honor and joy!"
Ward has four (4) recordings at this time titled "Rhythm Quest" Volume #1 and Volume #2, and "Sacred Christmas", and INDIGINARY . All are being sold around the world and for that Ward is very thankful...
Ward is reaching out to people everywhere with the gift of music, and wishes to thank "from the bottom of his heart" all his supporters...
A personal note...
It means so much to me to be carrying the Native American Style Flute,
and to be a part of Mother Earth and all my relations, next to being my
childrens father, these are my greatest honors. I have met so many
incredible people on my path as a "Flute Man". I am beyond grateful. I
try always to remember that I must not take credit for the music that
passes through me -that is between those who listen and the Creator. I do feel as
though I have been called somehow to make my "contribution", my
"ripples" with the Native Amerian Style Flute. I've seen its effect on
the people who hear it -or need to hear it- and it is a beautiful
Honor. I have talked at great length to other "Flute People" as well as
spiritual people of all kinds about this "calling" and there seems to
be a general agreement that this is a cusp time of change and
direction. We need things like the Flute that can keep us in touch with
that part of us that is inner, timeless, and far beyond the body...
