7 years in the making!
Native American and Japanese Style Flute & Instruments from around the world!
From the ancient and haunting sound
of the Native American style flute to
"Blowing Zen" with the Japanese shakuhachi
This recording celebrates our "Cultural
Similarities" thru music!
Experience a musical panorama ranging from
the grounded "Earthy" vibrations of a
Didjeridoo, to the drive/serenity of electric/accoustic guitars.
Ancient and modern instruments combine to
enchant, inspire, and unite us thru our common love of music1
African kalimbas, hammered dulcimer,
drums, and much more. . ..
Indiginary
This song is what this recording is all about. Both ancient and modern instruments combine to inspire!
Acoustic guitar, shakuhachi, djembe, synth..
Homaged
The breath of life! our most immediate need... This song honors our basic survival and celebrates life.
N.A. style flute, shakuhachi, djembe drum, breath.
Came to Pass
An elder once told me that when times are hard they didn't come to stay they "came to pass". Good words...
N.A.style flute, shakuhachi, acoustic guitar, African thumb piano (kalimba)
The Wolf and Little Birdy
Seems like a different lifetime ago I made my first Native American Style flute. It is carved with a wolf head at the end and has been my tried and true companion every since. I am very thankful for it's voice...
N.A.style flute, little NA style "spirit" flute, acoustic guitar, djembe drum. shakers, synth..
Friday Harbor
The San Juan islands in Northern Washington are very special to me... I have stood above cliffs there and played my flute for the Orcas and have been blessed with their presence...
What magnificent beings! The islands have many other special memories for me as well.
Shakuhachi, freenotes (related to a gamelon from Bali) bells.
Paying My Didjeri Dues
This is the most intense example of "Indiginary" music. A forty to sixty thousand year old instrument (didjeridoo) and a modern electric guitar combine to harmonize and vitalize!
N.A. style flute, didjeridoo, electric guitar with an "electronic bow".
Spiritual Nomads
This song is dedicated to those who strive to live freely, believing that home really is "where the heart" is. My parents are such people and they combine their love of travel with a purpose of spiritual growth. This is a song to honor them...
Shakuhachi, hammered dulcimer, electric guitar, synth..
Prayers of the Ancients
Fantasise that and old Japanese "Kamuso" Monk (players in earlier times of bamboo flutes for worship) and a didjeridoo (hollow tree limb) playing Elder from "down under" meet, and each prayes/playes in their own instrument "voice" together... an ancient, and timeless song. The flute in this song is based on a traditional Japanese "Honkyoko" the desire being to achieve enlightenment through a single note, the Didgerido is primal, magical, and appeals to our basic rhythms.
Shakuhachi, didjeridoo
Soulwalk the Earth
Many times during my travels I have found myself marveling at the fact that although I couldn't speak a foreign language I could relate and converse musically with others. Music really is a beautiful "international" language and brings all us Earth people closer together.
Shakuhachi, pan (South American flute) pipes, acoustic guitar, synth.
